Do animals have souls?

Or nematodes, if we're confining it to animals. They're everywhere.

And I do mean everywhere: http://plpnemweb.ucdavis.edu/nemaplex/FerrisPublications/pdf files/165Ferris2009.pdf

But I basically agree - the only way I'm aware of that humans could be said to be objectively 'superior' or 'dominant' thus far is brain complexity (and factors resulting from that) - so the only way a 'soul' could be unique to us is if it's a factor of that complexity (see above! :D ).

That paper was tough reading! Yikes!

We don't have fur or blubber, we don't have horns or tusks, we can't run quickly, we aren't very strong, we can't swim very well, we can't fly, we can't burrow underground - I guess that all we do have going for us is a complex brain to overcome our shortcomings. Maybe if souls do indeed exist, then maybe they are as natural as the Higgs boson, and maybe one day in the future we may prove (or disprove) their existence.

Well here's an about turn from the Catholic church. Anything to put more bums on pews I guess. Animals do go to heaven after all, says the Pope.
Pope Francis: Animals Go To Heaven - Business Insider

Good i hope he is correct, of course I believe heaven and hell are the same place to some one into animals heaven with out them is hell, some one who doesn't like them heaven with animals would be hell.
I have seen 2 ghosts and felt one present in a bedroom so I do believe there is an after life of some sort. On a slightly different thread I have often wondered about reincarnation, that would be my greatest fear rather than hell to have to come back and start all over again.

what if you came back as nanoboy?? You could be having a conversation with yourself right now and not know it!!

That sounds a bit to DR Who for me, C. I'm very happy to have got this far, but don't want to have to do it again, -like bill Murry in ground hog day.- I hate mundane repetition at the best of times.

I'm sure I've eaten one with chips and peas, but the spelling may have been different.

I suppose it depends on whether you believe in an afterlife etc. I always find it a bit strange when animals are referred to as 'passing away' to me they just 'die' -end of- same with us.
