It looks like the Blackfish controversy continues to affect SeaWorld.

I posted about this yesterday. I wonder if SeaWorld might ultimately have grounds to sue over blackfish. I mean this from a strictly legal perspective of course.
I'm sure that they would have sued long ago if they thought it would do any good.
For example yes Seaworld did separate Kalina along with Takara, however during that sequence it shows two pictures of trainers surrounding a newborn calf, implying that they were separated at a cery, very young age. In reality Kalina was 4 and Takara was 12 and had a calf herself. What sounds worse? Separating a 12 year old, or separating a newborn? The film also goes on to say that Katina screamed out for her babies in desparate need to see them.... through her mouth. Orcas do not have vocal cords so that possibility is ruled out. During that scene though they then show two orcas "screaming", Kohana, and Kasatka, not Katina. So they may lie about orca anatomy and indirectly lie to the audience about those orcas' ages but none of which that actually are directed to give Seaworld the blame.
One of the best articles yet on SeaWorld's struggles since the documentary was released. An attendance drop of 500,000 visitors in a single year is probably unheard of anywhere in the world of zoos.
SeaWorld copes amid PETA pressure on whales
And if I were the CEO of SeaWorld, this is the plan I would follow.
First I would find large bays or fjords where the openings could be netted off. The animals could then be placed in these large enclosures. Food could be provided by a trust fund set up by SeaWorld and trainers hired to teach the orcas and dolphins how to return to freedom in the ocean. Thanks to scientists like Dr. John Ford, we can match captive orcas with their pods based on the dialects within their language. People could still come to see the animals in these enclosures, although without the silly tricks. This facility could also serve as a hospital and rehabilitation center for sick and wounded animals.
Secondly, I would empty the tanks and replace them with a multi-media, IMAX-type environment to take people on virtual tours of our ocean. I would provide real educational messages about the state of our ocean and planet, and what we need to do to protect and conserve species, lives, and eco-systems. This facility would provide plenty of jobs.
All we need to do is replace slavery with rehabilitation and replace amusement parks with entertaining, educational facilities.
There is no justification for the enslavement of animals.
None. There never has been and there never can be. Slavery is slavery—unjustifiable, cruel, evil and soul-destroying, both for the victims and the oppressors.
Because of places like SeaWorld, we have the horror of the dolphin slaughter in Taiji.
This makes any person, man, woman or child who purchases a ticket to SeaWorld, Marineland, or any facility profiting from the display of dolphins as culpable for the crime as the business interests that have thrived for so long on animal slavery.

From the above article:
An IMAX tour of our oceans....I'm fairly certain that's been done before, and how would that be better in any way than the current business model?
Absolutely agree: What a nonsense, what a stupid idea. Why should anyone paying a (high) entrance fee for just looking animals on a screen and not real ones (no matter how great a location for that might be). If Sea World get rid off their animals (specially their killer whales and dolphins) this will be the end of that institution (and the animal rights activists will triumphate/celebrate).
Every social media site is used to spread propaganda against SeaWorld and unfortunately I'm in the mix of it all as a SeaWorld defender (it isn't going well). Every anti SeaWorld advocate has it stubbornly stuck in their mind that if SW were to shut down that every one or their thousands of animals will be blatantly dumped into the ocean within 5 seconds of their closing. With about 40 marine institutions in the US and many more around the world that contain cetaceans, something simply tells me that they won't touch an ocean, they'll just be transferred to those places - worse places including.
