I've got a feeling that in the short to medium term existing animals and species will be doubled up. So you might get the Lion Tailed Macaques doubled up on Monkey Islands until they can/want to bring in more species. Same with the Tigers. Do they still have 7 on site?

My understanding is that none of the old enclosures will be empty or doubled up. The zoo has confirmed a number of new species will be back filling the enclosures freed up by Islands. Of course they are keeping the details close to their chest until nearer the time, but they have acknowledged on public forums that there will be some exciting new additions in the 'old' zoo. Watch this space.......

I think we will see more than 1 enclosure of Babirusa once Islands opens, and may even be a couple of other species as well in the short term!

Suliwesi Macaques isn't it not Lion Tailed?

As detailed above, the chain is as follows:

Sulawesi Macaques >>>>> Islands
Liontailed Macaques >>>>> Sulawesi Macaque Enclosure
Buffy-headed Capuchins >>>>> Liontailed Macaque Enclosure
Future Taxon X >>>>> Buffy-headed Capuchin Enclosure

So the Capuchins *are* replacing the Liontailed Macaques, but said macaques are remaining in the house.

Yes good point although technically speaking the otters mean that it is not an exact duplication!

Not sure about what would replace the cassowary? Probably the least visited part if the whole zoo, so even if it remained empty I don't think 95% of visitors would even notice.

Can I suggest CLOUDED LEOPARD :D:D:):D;)

You can suggest it, but doesn't make it any more likely :p

Is that space big enough? I've never seen a clouded leopard in the flesh, so maybe i'm overestimating their size, but i wouldn't have thought the two cassowary enclosures would be big enough.

Cloudies are quite small but do like height to their enclosure I would say slightly larger than a serval but heavier built

I've heard that if Chester ever get clouded leopards they going to keep them in a purpose built enclosure that cannot be accessed if your name has, or has ever had, a D in it :D

But surely that's irrelevant anyway as Clouded Leopards can never ever, ever, ever, ever be seen by visitors?

:)

I'm sure the cassowary enclosures used to have cheetahs in them. It was a good few years back, maybe 10 or more, maybe Zoogiraffe or Bongorob could clarify.

Cheetahs are what they were built for - in the early 1990s, as I recall.
