Marineland Antibes Marineland Antibes News

Marineland Antibes, along with the rest of the Cote d'Azur has been hit by flooding over the weekend to the point where the penguin and sea lion exhibits were filled with mud. Everything is quickly being cleaned out, but clearly it has been a massive undertaking. Though there was a turtle found in the Dolphin filtration system and stingrays found dead in the parking lot the Cetacean exhibits were more or less spared. Also, a couple of domestic animals from the children's area were unfortunately killed by the flooding.

From the website it seems that the Marineland parks are now open as usual and the websites give full normal opening hours. This is despite previous estimates that they wouldn't reopen before January 2016, and despite the site being listed as 'permanently closed' on Google.

Can anyone please confirm this? Are certain areas (like the aquarium) still closed, or is everything working as usual?

A rumor has been going around stating that in July of this year, a sonogram of Wikie, confirmed that she is pregnant and the father is Tilikum.

I've heard quite a bit of doubt about this. Tilikum hasn't bred in 7 years since Makaio, and he's over-represented genetically, and the original person who made this claim only claimed to have worked at Marineland for 5 weeks. I'd wait till the park announces anything before we take this seriously.

It would make more sense to breed one of his offspring, say Nakai or Ikaika. I think I heard a rumor somewhere that Nakai was being trained for AI.
