Hornbill taxa lost in the past 25 years:
Bushy-crested Hornbill (Anorrhinus galeritus) - last held at Vogelpark Avifauna in 1992. The only images of this taxon in the Zoochat gallery are of captive individuals in Asia.
Tickell's Brown Hornbill (
Anorrhinus tickelli) - last held at El Retiro Park in the 1990's. The only images of this taxon in the Zoochat gallery are of captive and wild individuals in Asia.
Malabar Pied Hornbill (
Anthracoceros coronatus) - last held at Bojnice in 1995. There are no images of this taxon on the Zoochat gallery, although there are several photographs of Oriental Pied Hornbill which have been mislabelled as this taxon.
Eastern Piping Hornbill (
Bycanistes sharpii) - last held at Veldhoven NOP in c.2010. There are no images of this taxon on the Zoochat gallery.
Tanzanian Red-billed Hornbill (
Tockus ruahae) - last held at Plzen in 2013 - although it is probable further individuals exist within the zoo population still labelled as Red-billed Hornbill (
Tockus erythrorhynchus). There is a single image of this taxon on the Zoochat gallery:
Jackson's Hornbill (
Tockus jacksoni) - last held at Walsrode in the late 1990's. The only images of this taxon on the Zoochat gallery are of captive individuals in North America.
Southern Yellow-billed Hornbill (
Tockus leucomelas) - last held at Tierpark Berlin in 2007. The only images of this taxon on the Zoochat gallery are of wild individuals in Africa, although there are images of the Northern taxon which have been mislabelled as Southern.
Roller taxa lost in the last 25 years:
Abyssinian Roller (
Coracias abyssinicus) - last held at Battersea Park Children's Zoo in 1999. There are no images of this taxon on the Zoochat gallery.
Raquet-tailed Roller (
Coracias spatulatus) - last held at Vogelpark Ruinen in 2013. There are a number of images of this taxon on the Zoochat gallery, including the following photograph taken at Ruinen:
Broad-billed Roller (
Eurystomus glaucurus) - last held at Hannover in 1998. The only image of this taxon on the Zoochat gallery is a photograph of a wild individual in Africa.
Dollarbird (
Eurystomus orientalis) - last held at Pairi Daiza in 1997. The only images of this taxon on the Zoochat gallery are photographs of captive individuals in North America and Asia.
Motmot taxa lost in the past 25 years:
Rufous Motmot (
Baryphthengus martii) - last held at Artis in 1995. There are no images of this taxon on the Zoochat gallery.
Turquoise-browed Motmot (
Eumomota superciliosa) - last held at Antwerp in 1998. The only images of this taxon on the Zoochat gallery are of captive individuals in Mexico, although an image of a Blue-crowned Motmot at Vogelpark Avifauna has been mislabelled as Turquoise-browed.

Red-throated Bee-eater (
Merops bulocki) - last held at Dvur Kralove in 2003. The only images of this taxon on the Zoochat gallery are of a wild individual in Africa, and captive individuals in a European private collection.
Southern Carmine Bee-eater (
Merops nubicoides) - last held at Heidelberg in 2000. There are no images of this taxon on the Zoochat gallery.
Little Bee-eater (
Merops pusillus) - last held at Frankfurt in 2000. The only images of this taxon on the Zoochat gallery are of wild individuals in Africa.
Olive Bee-eater (
Merops superciliosus) - last held at Zurich in 2005. There are no images of this taxon on the Zoochat gallery.
Blue-throated Bee-eater (
Merops viridis) - last held at Köln in 2006. There are no images of this taxon on the Zoochat gallery, although an image of Northern Carmine Bee-eater has been mislabelled thus.
Red-bearded Bee-eater (
Nyctyornis amictus) - last held at Wuppertal in 1996. The only images of this taxon in the Zoochat gallery are of wild individuals in Asia.

Broad-billed Tody (
Todus subulatus) - last held at Wuppertal in 2001. A single image of what *may* be this taxon has been uploaded to the Zoochat gallery, as Walsrode held both Hispaniolan taxa in the 1980's. However I am unsure which taxon the image shows, and as such will not post it here. The image in question can be

American Pygmy-kingfisher (
Chloroceryle aenea) - last held at Artis in 1990. There are no images of this taxon in the Zoochat gallery.
Malachite Kingfisher (
Corythornis cristatus) - last held at Zoo Basel in the late 1990's. The only images of this taxon in the Zoochat gallery are of wild individuals in Africa.
Rufous-bellied Kookaburra (
Dacelo gaudichaud) - last held at Walsrode in 2006. The only image of this taxon on the Zoochat gallery is of the stuffed remains of the final individual at Walsrode.
Spangled Kookaburra (
Dacelo tyro) - last held at Birdworld in 2003. There are no images of this taxon in the Zoochat gallery.
Striped Kingfisher (
Halcyon chelicuti) - last held at Tierpark Berlin in 1993. A single image of this taxon in a European collection has been posted to the Zoochat gallery, taken in 1988 at Walsrode:
Javan Kingfisher (
Halcyon cyanoventris) - last held at Heidelberg in 1991. The only images of this taxon in the Zoochat gallery are of captive individuals in Asia.
Black-capped Kingfisher (
Halcyon pileata) - last held at Zoo Berlin in 2009. A single image of this taxon has been posted to the Zoochat gallery:
Senegal Kingfisher (
Halcyon senegalensis) - last held at Birdworld in 2011. A single image of this taxon in a European collection has been posted to the Zoochat gallery, taken at Zoo Berlin in 2007:
African Pygmy Kingfisher (
Ispidina picta) - last held at Frankfurt in 2008. Despite being held in many European collections over the timespan in question, only a single image of this taxon in Europe has been posted to the Zoochat gallery, a photograph taken in 1988 at Walsrode:
Sacred Kingfisher (
Todiramphus sanctus) - last held at Veldhoven NOP in 2004. The only images of this taxon in the Zoochat gallery are of captive individuals in Australia, New Zealand and New Caledonia.

It is interesting how much more attention seems to have been paid to kingfishers than other related groups!
