Another interesting list TLD, keep them coming. I'm rather impressed that there was a specialist marmot facility in Switzerland, although there do not appear to be any photos in the gallery of this.
I believe that it decided to refocus purely on the native Alpine Marmot in or around 2013, hence the loss of all but one of their eight marmot taxa

I see, that is a shame. Were the other marmot taxa allowed to die out, or sent elsewhere? Is there a chance then that some went to private European collections, and thus may resurface in European zoos in the future?
Don't know, but considering they all disappeared within a short span of time I would not be surprised if at least some went into private hands.
Lagomorph taxa lost in the past 25 years:
Cape Hare (Lepus capensis) - last held at Moscow in 2009. There are no images of this taxon on the Zoochat gallery.
Volcano Rabbit (Romerolagus diazi) - last held at Jersey in 1995. Along with several captive photographs of this taxon taken in Mexico, a small handful of photographs taken in Europe have been posted to the Zoochat gallery, including this image of an individual at Antwerp:
Plateau Pika (Ochotona curzoniae) - last held at Tierpark Gorlitz in 2003. The only image of this taxon on the Zoochat gallery is of a wild individual in Asia.
Daurian Pika (Ochotona dauurica) - last held at Tierpark Bad Liebenstein in 2006. Despite several European collections holding this species over the timespan in question - some for significant periods of time - the only photographs of this taxon on the Zoochat gallery are of a captive individual in North America.
Steppe Pika (Ochotona pusilla) - last held at Leningradsky Zoopark in 1998. There are no images of this taxon on the Zoochat gallery.

Northern Mountain Viscacha (Lagidium peruanum) - this taxon is possibly still held at Tierpark Schönebeck; however due to the age of the last individual at the collection it is possible that the species has disappeared from Europe within the last 12 months. The last certain record of the taxon at this collection as far as I know was in 2014. Several photographs of this taxon have been posted to the Zoochat gallery, including the following:
Southern Mountain Viscacha (Lagidium viscacia) - last held at Chester in 1998. There are no photographs of this taxon on the Zoochat gallery, although a number of photographs of the Northern taxon have been mislabeled as Southern. However, I believe I have seen film photographs of the Chester animals in the collection of a Zoochatter.
The Northern Mountain Viscacha was still at Schoenebeck as of 19th March 2015 when I visited - I saw it distinctly and closely!
I have a (not very good, as I recall) photo of Chester's last viscacha - will have to try to dig it out and scan.
Good to hear! Just a shame it's the only one left really..... just a matter of time.
I suspect that next time I am in that neck of the woods I should really do Schoenebeck; they have a few other nice treasures.

White-necked Squirrel (Sciurus stramineus) - last held at Yorkshire Wildlife Park in 2011. A handful of photographs of this taxon are present on the Zoochat gallery, for instance the following image:
I've finally seen one! I might have a photo of this squirrel (although the are some so its fine if I don't).
Can anyone fill me in on why they had them, as I believe they got rid of them due to them not wanting 'cages'? Also did you get to see them TLD, or did you not visit them in time?

White-throated Guenon (Cercopithecus erythrogaster) - this taxon may still be present at the last collection to hold the species; however, as the individual concerned has been offshow for several years it is difficult to say for certain. The taxon was last reported as being alive in 2009, when the following photograph was taken and posted to the Zoochat gallery:
My decision to list this taxon seems to have been correct, as I have now learned this individual died in 2013.
this species was never kept there, it was a misidentified P. melalophos nobilis.

hopefully you will root them out at some point, along with the owl photos you mentioned earlier in this thread.
I have recently started scanning some of my old transparencies again, so I hope to fill a few gaps eventually. I have just posted two photos of a bushpig in the Artis gallery, and I hope to post more shots of unusual species soon.
I will also be addinging some photos of more common species, if they show famous individuals or other features of interest.
I have a great many photos to search through, so this will be a slow and sporadic process - just keep watching the Gallery
