Drayton Manor did have Scottish Wildcats, not sure if they still do
... and Scandinavian origin at that.
Could also add Exmoor to the growing list of Blackbuck holders.

Cat Survival Trust only has one Bobcat, a 28 year old male - a few of their cats are in their late 20's..must be something in the water!
Could you please verify the age of the Bobcat and other cats, do you have evidence to show the ages, given that these are not Stud TAG book registered?

The bobcat has now passed away. I know of some kept privately in Suffolk but no details

So, apart from Terry Moore's word for it then is no evidence to show that a 28 year old captive cat and other 20 plus year old captive cats was of those ages, as if there was such records then we would be talking about world record breaking exotic captive kept felids.
The individuals held privately in Suffolk are indeed the only ones in the UK.

said private collection is actually listed on ZTL as it is the direct descendant of a closed public collection - I merely chose not to mention it, as it *is* a private collection.Lord only knows whether some of the stuff I have noted is absent from the UK is knocking about in private hands.
All are kept quite commonly in private collections and as pets. If you want to see these species then a number of exotic pet gatherings would allow you to.
Have to say, I am faintly surprised to hear that Woodchuck are common in private collections!
I'm surprised there are any at all. For sure they are not common. Devi didn''t you mix groundhogs with Cynomys ludovicianus which is very common in private hands. if they would have been common in Europe Prague Zoo would have not imported their animals from the US.
I can't seem to spot an ad at the moment but I do see them advertised for sale on occasion, I was fairly sure I'd seen one recently in a shop that deals with exotics but thinking about it, it may have been quite a while back as I can't remember where.
I think most zoos prefer not to get from private breeders if possible. I remember a celebration a few years back of the first breeding of fennec foxes in the uk, or the first for some time, when someone I know had a litter a couple of months before.
I haven't seen the species at all in private hands in continental Europe and Prague Zoo has traded with private breeders quite a lot, both small mammals and birds.
Does Galloway still have them? If not when did they leave the collection?
