Me and my wife Lynsey visited RSCC Saturday morning. It was great to see so many fantastic animals, even if some were quick glimpses - Civet, Fanaloka, Jaguarundi, as well as meeting some Zoochatters and the rhino keeper from Port Lympne; it's good to meet animal enthusiasts for a change! We stayed until just after the Binturong talk (which was great!) before heading to Wildwood for the afternoon.

We're glad we visited before the close, the place clearly had great potential.
 
Went yesterday. First visit. Enclosure labelled Rusty Spotted Cat contained Clouded Leopard kittens.Saw adult Clouded Leopard from afar in inaccessible enclosure.Smooth -clawed otters very active. Initially many apparently empty enclosures, but as day progressed Fanaloka,Yellow-throated Martens, Maned Wolves and one tiger became active.Echidna enclosure contained a pile of breathing leaf litter. Fossa active from start of visit.Brazilian otters very active.Red-ruffed lemurs, Boky Boky (Narrow-striped mongoose) and Vontsira (Ring-tailed mongoose), Jaguorundi & Cock-of-the Rock (last two unlabelled).
 
Today is a very sad day. A sad end to one of Europe's most promising zoos.
My best wishes to all the staff and animals too.
 
Yep, only a few hours left before it ends, I hope the new collections that the animals go to really try to keep the species going in captivity.
 
I second that. I'm very glad that I was able to visit the collection twice in the past two years but I am very sad that I won't be able to see it again.
 
Despite the weather I had to visit again today.
It was a sad day but I'm still hopeful that someone can step in

I have a suspicion I know where the other Banded Civets have gone, but it would do no good to speculate.

Hopefully you will have breeding success with the aardwolves; this pair actually did breed when they were up at Edinburgh Zoo, but the keepers did not realise the female had given birth - or indeed that she had been pregnant - and as such did not intervene when she rejected the young.
 
One of the binturong will be going to Nashville

Apparently there are - at the Binturong talk on the final Saturday of opening, it was said that the Palawan Binturong 'Ferdinand' would be going to Nashville to join their breeding programme

There was no mention of what will happen to the palm civets that I heard on my visit
