Rotterdam Zoo Blijdorp News 2015

Male Indian Rhino, Gujarat has arrived on a six month loan from Planckendael to mate with Namaste
 
Agile wallaby have left for TP Berlin recently, their enclosure will be incorporated in the new gelada enclosure.

Also Greater white nosed guenons have left the zoo (probably to Czech republic) and thomson gazelle will leave soon as well. All these departures were already announced at the start of the year, but remain a pity for zoolovers...

But another rarity has arrived: west indian Iguana's (I. delicatessima) are on show in the Oceanium since recently.

Glad to hear the Agile Wallaby actually went somewhere rather than dying off - the group at Tierpark Hellabrunn is thriving, but it is a shame that there are now only two collections in Europe with the taxon.
 
For the third time a black and rufous elephant shrew was born, bringing the total European population to 5 individuals...
 
The Red pandas at Blijdorp have just got a new enclosure but it has been proven not to be escape-proof. At the moment Rotterdam police is searching for an escaped Red panda and even the train-traffic had to be changed for the search !

The Panda has now been recaptured
