Weltvogelpark Walsrode news from Walsrode 2015

...

- Not a single montezuma oropendola seen or heared during the day. Frustratingly only a african gray parrot mimicking an oropendola call :(

...

I visited today and there was a montezuma oropendola in one of the aviaries in the restaurant.

Thanks for the pics LaughingDove. I really want to visit this venue but the amount of wire mesh either in the foreground or background (or both) of almost every image suggests most birds are in small enclosures and therefore difficult to get even semi natural images?

I would not say the birds are in enclosures that are too small but most aren't huge and most have wire mesh. Exceptions are the open-topped paddocks and ponds for penguins, cassowaries, ostriches, pelicans, cranes and other waterfowl, the three fantastic walkthrough places (part of Paradise Hall, Rainforest Hall and Free Flight Hall) and a couple of glass fronted enclosures (hummingbirds and baby bird rearing area).

I may have missed off a couple of bits, but everything else is in small-ish wire fronted enclosures
