Yes, I think there are many people on here that would love to buy the place, but in reality, the site is a very poor one, it regularly floods, it has a very low visitor catchment area and would take a vast amount of spare money to plough into it to improve it further, but like I often say, location is EVERYTHING when you have a zoo, and if that ain`t right you might as well not bother.

Exactly. There have been plenty that have looked into it over the years, so there's a very good reason that it's never sold.

Don't get me wrong, the owners and dedicated staff are lovely.....but you'd need a buttload of cash and the luck of every leprechaun in Ireland (or whatever the welsh equivalent is) to make a success of this one.

Absolutely, I agree, I know the owners and they are great people, they have worked hard there, but the current site is far from ideal as a zoo.

I have to say that it was initially very over-priced at £850,000, and although it has come down a great deal since then, it is still pretty expensive.

I visited recently . The lions have settled very well and enjoy the views from their enclosure . They can be left overnight in the covered outside area but not in the larger open-topped area . As it was a non-feed day they were confined to the covered area as they will only come in when fed .

As a keeper needs to be present when visitors are in the new area it is not always open . Apart from the lions there are a pair of emu with their chicks in this area ( as well as ponies , sheep and a calf ) . An aviary has no occupants .

A second female lynx had recently been received as company for theirs . They did not know the new arrival was pregnant , she could be seen nursing at least cubs in her shelter , the enclosure is temporarily split in two .

Two coati have been born . With the new EU rules on 'undesirable' species they might be some of the last 'legal' births .

No sign of the sunbirds in the 'Tropical Aviary ' .

This actually really annoys me, because I gave them those coati babies (brother and sister) for nowt on the stipulation that they get the male neutered. It seems that they now have inbred babies!:mad:

Unless you're getting a valuation from local estate agents/land valuers and local accountants/business valuers anything beyond, "it doesn't seem a viable business due to it's remote location" is a shot in the dark.
