I know that the 3 females that were at London Zoo and have been resting at Whipsnade will be returning to London. I'm also aware that ZSL are hopeful of getting a male from India but another female. Would this female mix with the existing 3 females?

I know that the 3 females that were at London Zoo and have been resting at Whipsnade will be returning to London. I'm also aware that ZSL are hopeful of getting a male from India but another female. Would this female mix with the existing 3 females?
I have spoken to Whipsnade zoo and they Have said that they may be getting a new wolf pack soon and they have New exciting features coming this year, including the New Jurassic event coming summer.
Also I have heard that Whipsnade are making Phase 2 and 3 of the Discovery zone:
Phase 1: Butterfly and croc house (Opened 2015)
Phase 2: New Small Aquarium
Phase 3: New Reptile House

Somewhere on here we've been notified they are getting a pair(1.1) from India. They may already be in transit/arrived if they want a male Lion on show by the time it all opens. I think if there is a pair, then maybe the female will not join the ZSL group but be sent elsewhere to utilise her fresh genes in a new pairing. We shall see, but trying to introduce her to the established group of females would be very risky.
Work on the new elephant barns began on January 18th, with a projected completion of a year.

There was an article in December (Times of India) which implies 2 lions arriving by March

Visited the Zoo this afternoon (Was extremely cold!). Saw a pair of Alligator Snapping Turtles in the old Dwarf Crocodile enclosure and also spotted that work had begun on the new Elephant house.
A damn shame.
A brief visit today, with a few observations:
Construction work now means there's limited access to the elephant paddock, with new "conservation centre" advertised to open 2017.
The wolf enclosure seems to have been stripped back, with signage implying a "new exhibit."
Only noticed 4 giraffe rather than the usual 5 (and I had a good look!)

A relief! I feared the worst what with this group's recent history. And it's a girl-even better!
Yes indeed. And good news its another female calf- things are looking up for this group now. Is this the first calf for the most recent male?
Brown bear Wendy has been put to sleep due to age-related health issues. This leaves 2 remaining females.

Are there any plans for this (brilliant) enclosure, when the remaining two bears die? In the 1960s there were an extraordinary number of births here; it would be good if the zoo were once again to do something other than simply maintain a small group, as has been the case for a number of years.
And I'd missed the news above about the Thomson's gazelles; a real shame. Any ideas as to what happened to wipe the small group out so quickly?
An idea has been suggested for Snow leopard, though whether this comes to fruition (much like the plan for hunting dogs to replace the wolves) is anyone's guess!
Have to say I'm quite angry about the gazelle situation-an opportunity missed if you ask me.
