Cleveland Metroparks Zoo Cleveland Metroparks Zoo News 2016

From Facebook:

IMPORTANT BIRTH ANNOUNCEMENT! On April 20 our female tufted deer in Wilderness Trek gave birth to a healthy female! Tufted deer are a small deer that weigh only about 50 pounds and are native to forest regions in central Asia. There are only about 58 tufted deer in North America so this birth is very important for this species. When this female tufted deer was born she only weighed about 4.5 pounds.

I just posted a few construction progress pics on Rosebrough Tiger Passage in the CMZ gallery if anyone is interested.

Hey look I'm famous! In case you are wondering who is taking pictures from the overhead shift it's yours truly. Had no idea there was someone down there snapping photos from below... I'll have to check my photos when I get back from vacation to see if I caught the photographer in the act, lol. It is a pretty great view from up there, hopefully the cats like it!

According to the newest SSP for the Lesser Flamingos the zoo's entire flock has been moved to Memphis. Is this new or old news? Or does anyone know if this is just temporary?

I don't know for certain, but it wouldn't surprise me if this was permanent. I do know the admins have been hoping to deacquistion flamingos and utilize their exhibit spaces differently, and that discussion has been going on for years.

Does anyone have pictures of the tigers in the Rosebrough Tiger Passage? None of the publicity shots released by the zoo have shown them in the new digs.

Apparently Dasha and Kletchka are both still getting use to the new exhibit and didn't stay long before going back inside for the opening. Someone said they saw Dasha for about a minute before she retreated back to holding. Im sure with all the people and excitement combined with the new digs it must be over-whelming for them.
