Are all these animals on show I know the Golden Mantella and Short-eared Elephant Shrews are but I don't remember seeing any of the others on my last visit

The green aracari and pied tamarins are also on show, in the tropical realm and miniature monkeys, respectively. As far as i am aware, all the other species are off show.

The Pieds that bred aren't they pair that are on-show for the moment!

Reinwardt's Tree Frogs did not breed during 2015, and are no longer kept. Sorry for the mistake.

White-tailed Jays are also no longer in the zoo.

Pied tamarins are in Miniature Monkeys and the aracaris in one of the upper level aviaries in Tropical Realm.

The pit vipers will go on show as soon as the vivarium is finihed, the small one nearest the macaques in Monsoon forest.

The BBC will be broadcasting live from the zoo tomorrow morning as part of the Crimewatch Roadshow series - topic is wildlife crime (how Chester are protecting the Rhinos) and exotic pets

I was looking through the Chester Zoo gallery and saw two things I was unfamiliar with. The first thing what species of hornbill is kept in the elephant house and the second is where are the Asian Glossy Starlings kept

The hornbill aviary is currently empty, but previously held Javan rhinoceros hornbills.
The asian glossy starlings are free-flying in the Tropical Realm

What was the Islands and Beyond Talk Like?

Did the Zoo Announce Any now Exhibits/ Areas that they will be Building soon and Will there Be Any New Species coming to The zoo?

A couple of points from a long and rather wet visit with bongorob yesterday.
The Aquarium was closed again; we looked through the open door to see that the glass from the former Malawi and snake-necked turtle tanks had been removed - it was very old and badly scratched. Contractors were unpacking the replacement sheets, which were very thick with chamfered edges to fit into the empty masonry frames.
The aquarium in the Okapi House was housing a large shoal of lampeyes and we did not see any of the elephant-nose fish that were formerly there.
In RotRA, two spiny turtles were on show with the emerald monitor (unlabelled) and two black-breasted leaf turtles looked very good in the former pit viper vivarium - it was nice to see such small tortoises at almost eye level.
It has been very wet in Chester over the past few days and quite a few drains at the zoo seem to be blocked, so several paths had large puddles, some of which were unexpectedly deep. I would recommend stout waterproof footwear to anyone visiting in the new few days ;)

Gentle Lemur, of course means that the leaf turtles are in the former mangrove snake vivarium.

Caribbean Flamingo eggs have started to hatch.

The new aviary in the elephant house has hornbill nestboxes inside.

The Islands meeting confirmed that work will start on the tapir exhibit in September, with a view to opening in summer 2017. The indoor accommodation will be open to the public, and the inside pool will measure 4 x 3 metres, with a depth of 1.5 metres.

Linked with this development will be a walk-through aviary for south east Asian birds and the new sun bear exhibit.

No new species were specifically mentioned.

Were any new themed zones mentioned

No just the two already planned grasslands and forests but these could be many years away.

Question; does the zoo still have Turkish spiny mice?

Also, the 2015 inventory lists 3 jaguars. I'm only aware of Napo and Goshi, who is the other female?

At the Islands and beyond talk did they say where in islands the new enclosures are going

on the sites they had been allocated.

tapirs between monsoon forest and tigers
Komodos to the east of the banteng
malayan bears behind the tigers
