I also clicked through his profile but more to critic his photography, which is how I stumbled across this photo along with others from Chester zoo.

Sorry to cast doubt. But that photo might not be Chandani at all

It looks like a much younger female to me - the cubs from the August 1997 litter (1.3 cubs) didn't leave until early 1999 so it could possibly be one of them if taken in 1998

Planning another visit again this Thursday how busy has the zoo been lately with school trips etc or is it still nice and quiet because it's still term time.

...and [spanner in works] that there was more than one enclosure that was used to house lions. Even though the one in West Zoo was long gone by 1998, if confusion is the cause for the day, who knows!

I went today and it was busy with school trips, but as SHAV says, quiet after 3.
Tigers were having their pool cleaned out etc, so were off show all day.

I know the exact thread, this is said mans photo from 1998, just wanted to confirm she was Asiatic before I threw it at him.

Said Man's thread has to be the funniest I've seen on FB for a very long time - still believe 100% he is a delusional troll but loved some of the replies he got!

He's a prize twit; the other thing he is complaining about is the fact Chester wouldn't let him in for free "as a professional photographer" and won't let him sell the photographs he took once at the zoo :p

Real professional photographers know a good deal about the convoluted subject of copyright law: so they wouldn't even consider taking photos without reading the zoo's Terms and Conditions (easily available on the website) and negotiating with the zoo before they arrive.
They would also probably be able to count the number of lions in an enclosure correctly ;)

Yes, clearly he is. However, he does make one good point when he moans about Chester's opening hours. In common with most British zoos, these are not what they could be - particulalrly at this time of the year, when evenings are longer, and when, after the heat of the day (!), things can be more active in the early evening. I've just returned from the Czech Republic, where zoos commonly open at 9.00 (or even earlier) and close at 6 or 7.00 (and, in Prague's case, at 9.00). To close at 5.00, with last entry at 4.00 (as is the case at Chester, for another week or two, before things extend by an hour), just seems really limiting....

Agreed! The fact that all but two collections in the UK only open at 10am or later (the exceptions being Edinburgh and Bristol) makes the shortfall even more of an issue when it comes to larger collections such as Chester.

Colchester opens at 9.30 all year & currently shuts at 6pm. That becomes 6.30 from 23rd July.

It doesn't make sense for any zoo to shut before 6pm June to September, there would be plenty of locals wanting to take their kids after school. I would suggest at the least they should all open until dusk on a Friday & Saturday or at least 8 pm from June to September.

I'd love to see CZ open until early evening, could even do a reduced ticket rate for after 5pm entry. Has CZ ever done a twilight event, I recollect elephant bbqs but can't remember any details.

Old cattle house closed today as there is a new arrival?

Also work being carried out around the entrance to the jaguar house, maybe finally giving the Sloths some outdoor space.
