I'm counting 28 out of 60. Can't remember if I've seen an Orinoco croc. A few I've seen in both the wild and captive and Hoatzin only in the wild...

How many animals from this Top Fifty list has nobody on Zoochat seen? I'll presume Thylacine and Javan rhino to name two, would certainly be on that list.

I rather suspect those are the only ones; I can think of at least one Zoochatter for every other species in that list.

I must admit that I admire the memories and lists of participating Zoochatters.

I've seen
proboscis mo nkey, kiwi, Tasmanian devil, giant panda, aardwokf (both of them), giant otter, uakari, tuatara, bird of paradise (3 species at least), clouded leopard, wolverine, aye-aye, dingo, sun bear,sloth bear, markhor, aardvark, drill, gelada, spotted hyena, musk ox

I will be seeing one from the list more before the end of the year

I missed seeing Sumatran rhinoceros at Port Lympne. I had the chance to visit either Port Lympne or Howletts and thinking that the rhino had already left I went to Howletts. When I had the chance to go back to Kent the rhino had gone. My main aim to visit Port Lympne when I actually got round to it was to see a mammal I had never seen before and one which was kept in only two U.K. zoos. I suspected that I would not get the chance to see the species again, I got it wrong- red river hog.

So I have seen 16/60 of the animals.:D I have also seen a platypus in the wild.:cool:

I saw a thylacine at the Melbourne Museum!;) (Dead obviously).
 
Unless I've counted wrong I've seen 27 out of those 59, with plans to see a few more in the near future.

I have seen 41 of the 59(?) on the list, of those I'm missing the Sumatran & Javan Rhinos and Hoatzin would be top of my to-see list, with Crab-eating Raccoon the most surprising omission.

60, unless you're not counting the thylacine which I would quite understand.

I figured you would be in the higher numbers, what with living in Australasia and having done big zoo trips in both Europe and the USA!

I should have crab-eating raccoon too, but missed it in Singapore...

Living in Australasia definitely helps :D. This list strongly reflects the interests of European and American ZooChatters, for whom Australasian species are extremely unusual. In contrast, there are very few species from those continents included (pronghorn, California condor) except those from the far north (e.g. wolverine, musk ox). My want-to-see list includes badgers and moles, neither of which rank on the overall list.

I also missed the crab-eating raccoon in Singapore, it is (or was?) supposed to be in the Night Safari show, which I have missed twice now...
