It's been a long time since we had a full photo quiz and I thought I might have a go, using our new album feature (I'm restricting the album to Members only).
There are five straightforward questions. I hope that three species can be identified exactly, but I will accept the genera of the other two as correct answers.
There is a tiny hint in the structure of the quiz, but I will give no other help. Instead I will mark your homework by giving each contestant a star for a correct answer (just like being at primary school).
The bonus Mystery Gold Star question is to extend high achievers, so it's really for show-offs and swots. In this case you have to name the family of the animal and the structure in the photo. A correct answer will win a Gold Star! This will compensate for a mistake or omission in any other question and count towards a five star total.
The first person with five stars wins the quiz. If no-one has five stars after midnight UST on Monday 8th November, the first person to reach four stars will be declared the winner on the 9th.

So look at the six photos very carefully :) Good luck!

Unfortunately the album is so private, that we can't see the pictures.... I get an error message every time I want to click on one of the links.

Aha! You can post your answers here. I will look at all the answers at least once a day and list in the thread how many stars each entry gets - but I won't tell you which answers are right and which are wrong - so I don't think it will be too easy to cheat ;)

I am marking each set of answers separately so lintworms's two sets and Hix's set each contain one correct name. In future I will quote the sets, like this

The sky must have been overcast for FunkyGibbon - no stars visible at all :(
FG missed the little clue that there are 5 questions (apart from the bonus).

But see above!

I should have pointed out at the start that there are no tricks in these photos. They have been cropped, of course, and the viewpoint may be a little unusual for one or two; but the animals are healthy and the features shown are characteristic and more or less distinctive.
