One thing which you may find reassureing "Orangutan Forest" critics is that Colchester Zoo does have a fassinating, very thought provking display very near the outside area. Which tells you clearly the problems Orangutans have and ways in which you can help. It is a bit tucked away and its been empty the 2 times I went in (mind you they were quiet days).
