The Stork and Ostrich House dates from 1897 so it is not as old as you think; it is “only” about 118 years old not 150.

You are correct, as I was thinking that the exhibit in the photo was possibly the African (formerly Eastern) Aviary, which dates from 1864. Thanks for the clarification!

Also, being "only" 118 years old strikes me as funny as many North American zoos that are a century or older often have very little to show for their history. Relatively close to me are a couple of zoos that are more than 100 years old (Woodland Park and Point Defiance) and yet both of those zoos are constructed of exhibits that have almost all been built in the past 50 years...with much of those zoos only being 30 years old or less. There are no Lubetkin Penguin Pools to admire in the Pacific Northwest. :)
