Amur Tiger Enclosure

I think this is a really good enclosure for Tigers and is one of my favourites.
It was great seeing the Amur Tigers acting naturally and very content with their cubs in a summer afternoon.
Very good enclosure with a Cabin,Trees plenty of vegitation, platforms and a pool everything a tiger needs!
Done the Aspinall way ;)

But it doesn't look like Siberia so it's not cool.
I kid :p I think they're great too.

These enclosures are fantastic i remember seeing the tigers at howletts lounging ontop of the raised platforms in the sun. Its a great shame there are so many north american zoochatters who keep bashing the aspinall parks and the enclosures the animals are kept in , especially because the majority have never visited the parks. Howletts and Port lympne are in my mind the best of zoological gardens and rank 100 times higher then all of the zoos i have visited in the united states over my many years of visiting familly members who live there. The care of the animals and the ethos of the park are one of a kind.

hahahaha yes indeed....... maybe in order for a natrualistic enclosure or a true "immersion" exhibit, as suggested by many , damien aspinall should maybe put so much snow a couple of feet deep and maybe a small scale forest of pine trees some huge fake mountains , then it would look so pretty for the general public no ? hahahahaa

just joking

Really? Howletts and Port Lympne are very loose on cash as a combination of it's remote location within the UK and the immense upkeep needed to maintain the many large animals. A few weeks after our visit they rung us up to ask for a donation.

You've obviously never read up on Damian Aspinall ;)

yes i imagine that the Aspinall parks often struggle financially , i really do love Howletts and Port lympne , i am thinking of visiting the parks in the near future when i take my nieces and nephews to visit England , i am sure that so much has changed since i visited last

The point still stands that Tigers have been breeding freely for decades in Kent in very simplistic enclosures that must have taken weeks to put up and would take days to take down. Oh, and they didn't cost much either - meaning that the Apinall Foundation has more money to spend in Congo, Madagascar and Indonesia on in-situ projects.

I'll stop there, because I've said it all before!!
