Oh, and they didn't cost much either - meaning that the Apinall Foundation has more money to spend in Congo, Madagascar and Indonesia on in-situ projects.
They can probably achieve more conservation-wise with the in situ projects than they can with the animals from/in the Parks- with the exception of a few species like Rhinos and Gorillas where there have been successful reintroductions.
Maybe that realisation is what's behind his stated intention of returning more animals to the wild. The majority of the species/specimens they have still aren't suitable for that though.
