Indeed. And with zebra being fairly sought after in other collections, why does Marwell persist in maintaining the chapman's group when they already hold two mountain and grevy's?
yes, it could behove Marwell to let the Chapman's go elsewhere at no loss to their animal displays, thus freeing the whole paddock for the Wildebeest and maybe then mix them with something less problematic than Zebra.
I think Marwell just likes maintaining it's position as the only UK zoo with all three zebra species. Which ain't a bad excuse TBH.
Probably so, though only Marwell themselves and a few true enthusiasts would care- the vast majority of visitors wouldn't notice if one Zebra species dissappeared.
I can't remember which Black Wildebeest calf was born first, Marwell's or Newquay's(successful) one but its an important milestone as they are the first breedings of this species in the UK for some decades(probably been mentioned already.)
