Someone, somewhere in RP had more talent for hyperbole than knowledge of other zoos' gorillas.

Being as kind as possible, Jock for Bobby seemed a swap that favoured Bristol even at the time...

It was a silly(and false) statement. He actually went from 'open sky' at Bristol back to a covered enclosure at London for several years, and then into the open Gorilla Kingdom. It doesn't take much to check the history of an animal like that.

Bristol certainly benefited from the swap a lot more than London did, but I believe Jock had to be kept on tranquilisers at Bristol for quite some time before he settled down. He also bit Salome very badly on her upper elbow-almost to the bone- the worst Gorilla wound I've ever seen. She also has a 'stiff' index finger nowadays- another souvenir from their early introductions I think. But all is well at Bristol nowadays.

Yes, he and Romina came from very antiquated accomodation in Rome Zoo to Bristol. After two years Bobby was exchanged with Jock from London. Jock is still at Bristol.

Bobby is the same gorilla who according to ZSL's press releases 'had never seen the open sky before he arrived at London'. Make of that that you will.

Thank You
