I appologize, I did get a litle head up. I really enjoy San Diego, I just don't think people on this board apply the same rules to them as they do the rest of the zoo world. They are the Kobe Bryant of the zoo world.
I apply the same rules, but the only thing there that is actually bad is the cat cages and even those are well planted and filled with trickling streams, varied terrain, and logs for the cats to occupy there day with. The bear grootoes there are not as bad as some of the others and they have tons of substrate and enrichment. The lion exhibit is below-average but they will be moving into a new exhibit in 2009. everything else is demonstrates pure brilliance.
You're right, I wasn't necessarily being fair both by the San Diego comment and my initial comment on this thread. To be fair I haven't seen the actual exhibit we were talking about, I just felt from the photos that people were being overly critical of some of the exhibits and I don't think it's in zoos best interest for zoo supporters to be UNNECESSARILY critical of exhibits for species which are currently being used to try and bring down zoos as a whole. Now don't get me wrong, necessary criticism should take place. I just don't want us as a whole to get caught in the trap of starting to think that nothing is adequate. I hearby retire from this thread offering appologies to blackrhino, snowleopard and anyone else I may have offended today. I truly respect you all and your opinions.
