The bronx has only a few bad exhibits such as this and the polar bear exhibit. That is actually less than most major zoos look at omaha's bear grottos and cat exhibit. At san diego look at the row of old cages and grottos (many of which are soon being torn down). Any zoo will have a few week spots but there are very few at the Bronx Zoo.
I also find the Crocodylian enclosures to be worst than most. Even the Nile Croc enclosure in Madagascar!, which has a nice and deep pool, is too small for a pair of 13+ foot long crocs.
