Chimpanzees of Mahale Mountains exhibit at the Los Angeles Zoo

this exhibit looks very spacious and lush, I like it.

Do we know what species those strap-leaved bushes are? And are they hotwired or protected in any way?

I'm not sure what species they are, but I know that they are NOT hotwired. The only thing hot wired here is the very top of the palm trees and the top of the walls.

The fact that there is no hotwire makes this exhibit even better! Also, the photo shows perhaps a third of the large enclosure, and in my opinion this chimp habitat is far superior to either the netted orangutan exhibit or the vastly overpriced gorilla soccer field.
