It looks very nice for an anteater indoor exhibit, too nice...So iw as afraid, its just an indoor exhibit, but snowleopard wrote, they can use an outdoore xhibit also. I know two just indoor holdings of giant anteater, Brookfield and Cleveland. That can't be, no european zoo is keeping giant anteaters just indoors....But on the other side, most of the indoor exhibits in europe for giant anteaters are very small, have no soft ground or any enrichment or a water pool...Anteaters like it to swim.
They are exhibited with Macaws and up until a year ago they were exhibited with Capybaras. The capybaras have since moved into the outdated pachyderm building that should have been demolished 20 years ago. Since they have begin construction on the pachyderm building to build African Elephant Crossing I don't know where the Capybara have moved, so they may be back with the anteaters.
@BlackRhino. Its impossible to keep giant anteaters in a nice indoor exhibits. I know the cleveland exhibit, its a desaster for the anteaters and especially the tapirs , which has lived in it before the anteaters. First thing, the exhibit is much to small for the anteaters, which they have to share it also with capybaras. It to dark for them, no natural ground, the pool is small, they have no sunlight, nothing. Its sad, that it is allowed to zoos everywhere in the world, to keep big mammals only in indoor exhibits. So an us-aquarium is keeping river hippos just indoors, what comes next ? Elephants in an indoor exhibit ? Why not ? If is it big enough as like as the cologne elephant house, nothing speaks against that, if the elephants have a pool and some trees inside.
