Closed Jungle Trail. All its signs and text have now been removed - including the iconic main sign, entrance/exit signs, and push/pull signs - and it has been blocked off by a new, more permanent fence.

Very sad, especially since it seems unlikely they will be able to renovate or replace it anytime soon. A big loss for the park. But I am glad I still got to see it last year.
@CMP yes. Some birds were held somewhere else before the closure too, others that were only held there moved somewhere else or were given away to other zoos like Plzen
@GiratinaIsGod The building was constructed for Expo 2000 in Hannover and, according to a magazine article, was intended to be a rather temporary structure. I assume that’s one of the reasons they decided for wood. While there are better materials available, the wood itself isn’t the problem—the real issue is the lack of maintenance. This became especially evident whenever it rained, as large amounts of water leaked through the ceiling onto the wooden beams and other parts of the structure. Had the building been properly maintained, with timely repairs such as fixing leaks and replacing damaged wood before the whole structure was rotting at the same time, it could probably still be in good condition today.
