Cockatoo locked in a cage round the right hand side of the public seating area.
Problem with these handraised or otherwise tame parrots is that they are often not really orientated to their own kind. So they live a very artificial life as a 'pet' interacting with people instead- some are quite seriously 'disturbed' and pluck themselves or scream incessantly(not suggesting this one is)
 
yes i know i have a african grey of my own. but nelson here is takern home in the evenings and is always given love by a keeper i know. they have been with each other for about 15yrs
 
@ pertinax The problems you describe are usually down to mismanagement of young birds, properly raised parrots shouldnt have these issues.

I agree this probably isnt the best way to display this bird but as a parrot owner I can tell you this bird must be happy because its a molluccan cockatoo and they are particularly prone to plucking if unhappy so she/he must be recieving alot of attention and affection .
