I'll make a guess- the Gelada males sat in a huddle all day and didn't use it much, whereas the Macaques are much more active and will use this larger enclosure more fully.
Anyone know why? I'll make a guess- the Gelada males sat in a huddle all day and didn't use it much, whereas the Macaques are much more active and will use this larger enclosure more fully. May be some completely different reason though...
From what I remember this enclosure has less grass and more climbing than the macaque enclosure, so it would make sense in my opinion to swap them around, since the geladas get more grass [and are primarily ground dwellers anyway] whilst the macaques get greater climbing opportunities.
On my last visit they were down to just 2 Gelada unless they have had some arrivals lately then this could well be a permanent move mind you when they were in here before they didn't breed very well if I remember right
