On my last visit they were down to just 2 Gelada unless they have had some arrivals lately then this could well be a permanent move mind you when they were in here before they didn't breed very well if I remember right

I thought Dudley received 4 male Geladas? Perhaps a couple have been sent elsewhere(or died?:( ) Agreed that two Geladas in here wouldn't make much of a display.

I think if the Macaques did not breed well previously its not to do with which enclosure they were in but some other reason- e.g. group composition or sex ratio.

I wonder if Dudley will add more Geladas in the future e.g. females (when they can get them).

I know one of the gelada's died shortly after moving to Dudley, I assume the other has suffered the same fate.

On Sunday I observed only one gelada in the new enclosure - however this of course does not mean they only *have* one, as the weather was so bad there could well have been more hiding away.

Dudley's original first four Gelada's (Fisseh, Femi, Ebanois and Bob;)) arrived from Zurich (?) in 2011. There seems to be a few at Edinburgh and I believe a female from Colchester could also be candidates for new females or a female.

The Macaques didn't breed for a number of years until five new Macaques were brought in which may have kicked off breeding stimulation. Females could be a contention for the Gelada's all depending on if they have one or two, if they have two then maybe a male needs moving on to make way for a female(s).
