I really like what London Zoo has done with the dreaded Mappin Terraces, which have hosted quite the menagerie of animals over the years. The yellow Aussie highway signs, the beige/red sand and dirt, and the choice of animals are all worthy additions to this slowly improving zoo. Once a powerhouse in the industry; narrowly avoiding being closed forever; resurrection in the 21st century!
I'm torn apart from this redevelopment; the sheer scale of this exhibit means it should really be inhabited by striking animals like bears or big cats rather than the 'everyday' emus & wallabies, yet the enclosure is so well built. :/
Have to agree with you Marwell Darlek.Even though it is an attractive enclosure the space is crying out for cats,be it moving the tigers/lions or bringing in snow leopards.Saying all that i do think that London is rapidly improving and with 2 or 3 quality new redevelopments it could become the ideal small urban zoo.
Yet why go to emus and wallabies when the bears turn out not to work? Try another species, put some big cats in, something that really grabs the majestic feel of this exhibit.
It is a very Majestic Enclosure and in my opinion nothing is more majestic than lions or Gorillas maybe i am biased as they are my favourite species. It could be spectacular with some glass for lions
