That was an amazing house in its heydey- a really comprehensive collection of Parrots and Macaws- mostly in cramped indoor-only aviaries and cages. Probably a good thing it is no more and the house is permanently closed - I think it may be falling down!

The few outdoor aviaries along this side still house a couple of smaller Parrot species but that's about all.
 
Sorry I have no photos but can remember it well .

How will this building be affected by the current extensions to the Penguin enlosure ? I know the school picnic area inside has been shut .
 
It's going to be completely demolished, with the basement area used as the footprint of a new pool.
 
Based on the planning permission documents someone posted here. ;) I'm sure it won't be 100% to it all but it seems like a pretty significant move!
 
i watched yesturday as this building was taken to the ground....!

Such a shame - a nigh-on 150-year-old building. This better be a good penguin pool!
