I’m sorry to contradict you but John Gould’s stuffed humming-birds were displayed in an earlier Parrot House; John Gould’s impressive humming-bird exhibition was in 1851; this house was not built until 1869.
Thanks, I hadn't imagined that there was another building later converted into a parrot house - admittedly, I forgot to check my dates. So where was this earlier parrot house, and what was it used for previously - just an exhibition space?

I think that the building where Gould’s humming-birds were displayed was not far from the Three-Island Pond. At the end of 1851, it was taken down and re-erected, for use as a Parrot House, near the old Elephant House.

If you haven't seen it already - It's THE most amazing Penguin Pool ever!!! It's the biggest Penguin Pool in Britain, I believe, and four times bigger than the previous one.

Yeah I think youd be hard pushed to find the space for Edinburghs penguin pool in London zoo.
Although Edinburghs could do with some improvements in my opinion.
All these years on ZooChat, and I think this is the first time I've seen this picture and this building! I'm only familiar with the small part of the wall that remains standing behind the penguin seating area. London could do with more parrots, it's far too quiet a zoo, although at least the blue-throated and hyacinth macaws are kept nearby, so there is some parrot noise close to what remains of the old Parrot House.
