With the proboscis monkeys and gharials now long gone and a new $4 charge that is an actual entrance fee for JungleWorld has this structure officially past its glory days? It is still one of the better rainforest buildings of the 15-20 in North American zoos, but the fee to stroll along an 800-foot wooden pathway is steep even for the Big Apple and that must irk many visitors.

I was just there in November 2010 and there was no fee to enter jungleworld. It must have happened this year. It is a very good exhibit and I was impressed. I don't think it is as good as Omaha - Lied Jungle but I don't think anything will top that.
Since you have been to most zoos in the US and Canada can you rate for me the best rainforest exhibits you have seen?
@snowleopard: Is it an extra charge (= additional to the regular entrance fee) or is it like the charge they took (or still take) during the free-entrance-days (Wednesday?) for specific buildings/exhibits?

When I went in summer 2001 the leopard exhibit had two black leopards in an area I felt was too small for them. Good vertical height, but no depth and hardly any ground area.
