It looks like lesser to me, but I'm not an expert. By any chance, did you hear anything about a king bird of paradise at Bronx? There was mention of one a while back.
Last I heard, Bronx keeps four bird-of-paradise species: Red, Lesser, Raggiana, and Twelve-Wired. The Twelve-Wired are all off-show and I'm not sure how many they have. On my last visit, there were 1.1 Red on-exhibit and 0.1 Lesser in the neighboring enclosure. Further in the house there used to be 1.1 Raggiana, though I believe they've since been brought off-exhibit.
This is a Lesser, and it also means the zoo has gotten a new male for their female
Interesting. Where'd you get that information? Glad they keep so many Lessers. When did they go out of Twelve-Wired? Also, how many Raggiana do they keep?
I know that the Dallas World Aquarium has been wanting twelve-wired bop for a while, so if they went to a different facility, that may be where. It would be weird for the zoo to just ditch the species altogether, though.
