What do you think of the new exhibit, Betsy? Thumbs up, thumbs down, or too soon to say? I am hoping to get down there to see it soon and am interested in your opinion.
Best exhibit San Diego has had in a while. Better than Reptile Walk, Panda Trek, and definitely EO. The Koala exhibits are nice, probably the best in the United States for holding Koalas. May not be realistic landscapes but they do remind me of the exhibits I saw in Australia with the walkway. I didn't see any echidnas and possums. Perhaps they are coming later? I overheard a docent saying that they would add kiwis later, but sometimes docents aren't very reliable and things change.

Well, since you asked. I can give you my opinion based on why I go to the zoo. I am not an animal expert or world traveler, so I go to learn and observe. I want to exhibits to be able to meet all the needs of the animals. I take my grandchildren so I want the area to be kid friendly. With that in mind, I give it a thumbs up. It was wonderful to see all the koalas enjoying the sunshine. I am looking forward to seeing a Tasmanian Devil for the first time. I can see myself and my grandchildren spending a lot of time there when the crowds thin out. One thing I am not sure about is the totem poles. They cost a lot of money and do they even have totem poles in Australia? Also, I was hoping they would be space enough to bring the kangaroos over from Urban Jungle.
