I remember this being bad from my visit in 2010, it doesn't look to have changed much.

The signage at the right here does draw attention to the age of the resident(s) - I guess to try to excuse the enclosure a little: Signage Example at Krefeld, 15/06/19 - ZooChat

If it is a retirement home then I think it's very likely it will disappear quickly once no longer needed.

Good to hear its going to be fazed out. I am someone who actually appreciates the aged aesthetic of many older exhibits, but this is just a pitiful dog kennel...

Between this monstrosity, plus the orangutans and chimpanzees, Krefeld isn't obviously known for its primate accommodation.

At least I no longer have to believe Zurich has the worst Siamang exhibit in Europe...

@DelacoursLangur I've seen at least three worse Elephant exhibits in Germany, to be honest - although one (the old exhibit at Magdeburg) no longer exists.
