@FunkyGibbon Fortunately the last Siamang is also gone now in Zuerich

@DelacoursLangur There is just one female of 45 years old remaining, so moving her would probably unwise. That said Burgers' Zoo moved an even older Siamang to Sosto together with the group of Orangutans she was living with... And she lived well into her 50ies

@TeaLovingDave Magdeburg is thankfully replaced with a really nice exhibit now. I disagree on the hamburg front, both indoor and outdoor are significantly larger and better equipped than Krefeld. Wilhelma is probably the most comparable but at least they have a pool, there are also advanced plans in the works to build a new elephant complex.

One other I just thought of that is probably the worst in Germany is Cottbus. The outdoor yard is significantly better than any of the others, but the indoor accommodations are pitiful considering how much of the year they must spend inside in that climate.

Heres a video of the elephant house at Cottbus, yes thats it:

Indeed - as noted above I was already aware that the exhibit in question no longer existed, and as a matter of fact I have seen the new exhibit :) it is indeed really nice!
