Maybe captain alligator, there does seem to be some chestnut coloration on the bill which I missed on my first look. The two species are very similar, ZTL lists the zoo holding sulfuratus and vitellinus. This is neither.
Thanks for your comments!
Yes, the 2 species are very similar.
Choco Toucan (Ramphastos brevis) is rare in captivity, but maybe possible for this zoo to get it since it has a super rare sloth too.
Is this toucan a Yellow-throated Toucan (Ramphastos ambiguus)? (Chestnut-mandible Toucan is currently classified as a subspecies of Yellow-throated Toucan.) If the toucan in the photo is a Choco Toucan, it means that it is currently the only individual captivity outside of South America.
Choco Toucan (Ramphastos brevis) has a black lower bill as opposed to the Chestnut-mandibled Toucan (Ramphastos ambiguus) which has a chestnut or dark brown lower bill. Do you have clearer photos because based on this photo it looks more like a Chestnut-mandibled Toucan (Ramphastos ambiguus) to me.
