A fantastic species that I would love to see but I find the short-beaked species far more attractive.
You are VERY lucky to have got to see this species, did you make prior arrangements before visiting to get to see this animal?

Yes,this animal is kept off-show and was the main reason I went to Moscow.

I made arrangements to see it before I went.

Some more information about this animal : it was imported a little more as 15 years ago together with a second animal from Indonesian Papua New Guinea, The second animal was an albino but shortly after arraival it died. The remaining animal is called Smaller.

There were about 6 animals, four of them has died shortly upon the arrival.

You got in there just in time; this final animal has now passed away :(

It's a double shame when you consider it was rather younger than the other long-beaked echidnas in captivity - and therefore presumably could potentially have lived much longer than it did - and spent almost all its time at Moscow offshow and on its own.

why exactly was it always off-show? The Taronga long-beaks have spent most of their time off-show as well.
