Zoo Barcelona - Iberian wolf

One of the 5 females that arrived from Montpellier
Interesting that they can jump that high. If I am not mistaken, part of the recovery plan for iberian lynx is putting fences around certain areas (stocked with rabbit prey) that lynxes can jump but other predators like iberian wolf cannot. Maybe their assumptions about wolf jumping are incorrect?

how many iberian wolves they have in captivity around the world?

According to ISIS, there are 30.27, all listed in Europe.

Spain (4 zoos)
United Kingdom (3 zoos)
France (2 zoos)
Portugal (1 zoo)
Germany (1 zoo)
Czech Republic (1 zoo)
Hungary (1 zoo)
Netherlands (1 zoo)

Definitely a unique looking subspecies of the typical wolf found throughout Europe, Asia, and North America. They would make an interesting species to introduce to American zoos.

They are very distinctive-looking from other European wolves. But they do rather remind me of the Red Wolf of the Southern USA. Similar colour scheme and size?
