Circus Knie is the national circus of Switzerland and also has a zoo and a circus museum in the town of Rapperswil close to Zurich. They travel the country but I do not know if they travel abroad as well.

You were brave posting these pictures, Baldur!
*Awaits rant from anti-circus lot*
:p

It's not my circus and I'm sure elephants are treated worse in many other circuses. They are not chained, the one in the foreground seems to be but she is just having a sip of water and the trainer seems relaxed. They are all females.

I'm sure they used to have a performing white rhino and common hippo

The Common Hippo I cannot comment on, certainly in the past, especially considering that they travel with large animals even today, while many circuses that still dare to exhibit animals will limit themselves in size to dogs only.

Regarding the White Rhinoceros, it is still alive but no longer travels with the circus. I have seen it and will post photos later. It is now retired and living at the zoo they run in the town of Rapperswil. A gentle creature and obviously used to people, it would hang out by the fence to be scratched by the visitors.

Charles Knie now lives in Australia, he is a nice guy, has a small park called the Parrot Garden Cafe, i want him to teach me to ride a rhino :)

Ha, do it Ben :D
And Kiang, the common hippo is still on the road with Circus Krone, a German circus (according to their website that is).

i love how zoos feel the need to put up huge ugly fences to keep eles in and this circus manages to do it with 4 pieces of wire and a guy in a chair....

On the other hand, how much supression does these Eles have to be inside of those "4 pieces of wire"?

Can't be worse than many of the elephant houses I have seen in my days. They are all young cows and I think one older cow. She helps the trainer keeping the others at bay :)
