That's a lot further than I ever saw them but then you are a regular(very regular ) visitor. Senja I only saw outside on the small island once- she looked so fat she could hardly move. But I'm glad to hear they did utilise their freedom more than that after all those years of cagelife.
This is a fantastic shot. Can you not see why in my oppinion, exhibits like this are much better thanchessingtons new gorilla cage. Its beautiful. The gorilla cage is just one big prison. This is the life of an ape. not behind bars.
A fantastic shot and a fantastic enclosure. Paignton are very lucky in being able to use a natural area of trees and water for their orangs and gorillas, something not available to a lot of zoos, I imagine.
