At Cincinnati it's like the keeper goes to the curator and says "sir the chipmunk has died, what should we put in its cage now?" and the curator replies "hmm, we've got that spare puma. Just shove that in there."
Yeah because this is such a bad exhibit You've never been to the zoo, so please don't judge it just by pictures. At least snowleopard has been to the zoo and has seen it for himself. Night Hunters wasn't one of them but I can say it was a huge improvement. All of the walls every exhibit were expanded or heightened, and many species got bigger spaces. I know I am being over defendant just because it is my home zoo, but it kills me to hear all sorts of bad things about other zoos as well.
Your Cincy jokes crack me up mainly because I'm in agreement. The old Cat House and Nocturnal Houses were ghastly affairs, but the new Night Hunters complex doesn't seem to be much of an improvement. The Reptile House is also a candidate for having animals shoved into small holes...ha!
I'm sure the zoo does have good exhibits, perhaps even overall, but I can't be bothered wading through 123 pages (!) of photos in the gallery to find out. There's something like 3000 photos in there; it needs some serious pruning by at least a half.
I suspect the majority of the outdoors enclosures at Cincinnati are probably quite acceptable or good, but whatever the overall condition of the zoo the houses you and I have mentioned are completely unacceptable. The cat house was by far the worst and as you say the conversion of it to Night Hunters doesn't seem great. The Bird House has some good exhibits in size and furniture, but it also appears to have many of the same tiny museum boxes that the Reptile House indulges in.
It must just be depressing walking through those houses

Too correct. The Cincinnati gallery has become the most bloated gallery on ZooChat. I've thought about cleaning it up, but the process gives me a headache.

But the LA zoo has some nice historical accounts of species from 'Blackduiker'. There's photo's from the 1960's through to the present day, most of Cincinnati's are recent photo's taken by one member (Moebelle).
A bit of a difference in my eyes...

Did I mention your name? No, I mentioned Moebelle...????
And there really is no need for the gallery to be updated every week unless the zoo continues to change on a weekly basis!

Yes there would BUT no other gallery gets updated as often as the one in question! I'm not having a go at you in particular, don't take it as a personal attack. It's just that Cincinnati was one of the first galleries I perused when I joined ZooChat and over the past two years it has expanded at an astonishing rate, no other zoo has had as many photo's added in that amount of time.
