Empty Exhibit

African Plains- ?? Exhibit. February 17, 2013. This exhibit is directly before (or after depending on which way you come to it) the big main entrance to "African Trail" and I've never seen a species in it and it's very unkempt and seems pretty much forgotten. Does anyone know what used to live in it and if there's plans to bring in a new species for it.
We're all just fantasizing here, so I'll say that I would love to see some sable antelope, wildebeest, bongo, kudu or eland. Putting any one of those species in here would be amazing. Wonder what will go in here in the future (if anything ever will)?

I'd forget about Bongo going in here. Any of the others would be just great! Why stop at hoofstock? I'd really like to see a carnivore be moved into here! Maybe move the hyenas here and put a small African cat in the current Spotted Hyena exhibit! All just speculation of course but would be a great idea. As most of you know, the zoo has been planning a new African exhibit since 2009 but nothing but Aardvark and Spotted Hyenas have really ever come out of it so far. I don't know why the zoo doesn't move the Southern White Rhinos here and put something else in their exhibit at the Zoo Center. What would be great is if they got some Black Rhinos!

I visited the zoo again today and took a picture of this exhibit so you all can see how it looks in the warmer weather. When I visited I also realized it goes quite a bit further to the left. And that plastic bag in this photo is still there.
