I think it would be excellent if the garden was given to a hoofstock species and a bridge built linking POTA to the lush woodland opposite. This would create a fantastic open enclosure the gorillas would feel more secure in, and with the lush greenery of Port Lymnpe's woods wouldn't be far off a rainforest. Like a larger version of their open Colobus/De Brazza's enclosure.
Marwell Dalek- in principal that is an EXCELLENT idea!
But as has been pointed out, in reality the Gorilla group might eventually wreck all the trees from overusage, though that could be overcome given a large enough area, and there's also the cost of building a barrier enclosing it in the first place..but I still wish they would do it!!!!
Also I still hope that they will eventually use some/all of that woodland to create more open plan Primate enclosures - e.g. mixed Drills & Dianas? I don't understand why they haven't done so already. The existing Colobus/de Brazza enclosure proves the monkeys won't wreck a large area and there is plenty of unused woodland not being used for anything. It could also be done with the occupants still using their existing enclosures which already adjoin this area, for sleeping/feeding etc in order to save costs.
