Iberian lynx (Lynx pardinus)

Lovely photo. You must have been thrilled to see these animals! How did they compare to Bobcat, a species that I guess you're familiar with? :-)
 
These are the most distinctive of the four lynxes, due to the heavy ruff of fur below the cheeks (somewhat akin to sumatran tiger). Also the most heavily spotted, at least consistently. I say that because some bobcats (from the northern part of their range) are very heavily spotted with almost a leopard pattern, though the ones here in the desert have very faint (if any) spotting.
