That is in no way an appropriate response to this photo, and nor was the first response before you immaturely changed it!
What would you have thought if someone had asked for an ID for what was obviously a Giant Panda, and then somebody posted 'A giraffe. '? Would you think of them as somebody worth reading other posts from? Do you think that is an appropriate response? I hope not. And then they change that to 'A mammal. ', now how do you think about them?
When you are wrong, don't be the annoying idiot that so many people are, admit you are wrong! Honestly, you seem like the better person admitting it, than the person who covers it up, usually badly.
If you have no real idea on an ID when people ask for one (or any subject on here for that matter) just don't comment, believe me it is possible! As when you actually have something worthwhile reading people won't read it as they'll see you as a person who knows nothing, who can't admit to their mistakes and they won't waste their time reading your posts; and many users are going to start, and even have started, using the block member function, meaning they can't see anything you post or upload; so to put it simply, no one will be reading your posts soon if you continue the way you are at the moment!
In the future please only comment if you have time, it could have waited until after 'class'! I you don't have time to post, don't post!
So please, only post if you have something good and worthwhile and the time to post. As I have been guilty of these crimes, but I've realised how desperately annoying it was so stopped, as I didn't want to be a frustrating and immature member. I hope I haven't been rude, I just wanted to help you realise how hateable (to put it honestly) you are at the moment.
Geez. I didn't mean to be so offensive, and I apologize if I have been. I would be the first to say that I was wrong in this situation. People make mistakes- even if some have a few more than others, it's life, move on. Clearly I was wrong and next time I willtake time to look at it harder. It's not your argument that is "forcing" me in to doing this, but the fact that I realized that your argument was correct, before you even typed anything. I changed my answer, yes. Everyone who's replied on this knows it. It looked like a pigeon, in the quick fleeting view of it I had. I understand I should have taken longer to look at it. If you were so deeply offended by something that I merely intended as a joke (my first sentence was always a joke, regardless of what followed) then I'm sorry, there is nothing I can do for you.

I didn't find it offensive. I was merely hoping to point out to you that at the moment the majority of what you post at the moment is what I'd describe as spam and I believe that other members do (sourced from the chatroom). I imagine you are a fairly knowledgeable person and that you have good things to say, the trouble is as you post some 'spam', when you have something good to post we will view it through tinted glasses, or even just not bother reading it. I don't want to appear (or be) rude, I just want to let you know that.
As for the ID, I agree with temp with female Red-billed Firefinch.
Thylo may recall that we discussed that as the probable ID last week and I'm not 100% sure due to the quality of the picture, however I'd go with that.

You're right, I am often over-eager. I imagine this can come from a number of reasons- for one, someone will actually pay attention and acknowledge what I have to say about animals, as opposed to ignoring me like my parents and "friends" often do. I'll do my best to tone it down in the future.

It's fine, I have no problem with you and jay discussing how to become constructive members of the forum, especially with you being willing to admit your own past faults.
However, may I suggest refraining from yelling and calling people immature or an "annoying idiot" while doing so. Often times that kind of criticism won't end with the user learning anything.
@LD, yes I do indeed recall your suggestion of Red-Billed Firefinch
