The front boat has passed one of the barless orang enclosures. The second one is passing the wired orang enclosure. Note part of the Monsoon House with ventilators open at the back. Chester, 10th July 2015.
there is a waterfall that drops down to the bottom of a high wall - so basically the new outdoor enclosure pictured is exactly the same principle but without the waterfall
The boats travel around an underwater track so they don't need steering, I presume there is a mechanism towing them along.
I am working on my photos and I hope to post a thread about the ride, including the safety instructions. I am quite sure they are safe, although they were not fully loaded yesterday and so they felt a little unsteady if the passengers shifted position too much. I suppose I should not have used the word 'frail' but I can't help indulging in a cliché from time to time
The boats are supplied by theme park ride maker Intamin, and uses an underwater cable and pulley system. It's the same system used for the boat ride at Hannover Zoo.
With no canopy what will happen if it rains? I'm thinking more of the seats getting wet, having to be dried off very time before subsequent passenger board.....

So can you /will you be able to walk round Islands and still see everything without using the boats e.g. if you don't want to queue or haven't got time or just don't want to use the boat?
