Jaguar Exhibit almost open

The final spot of construction for the Rainforest of the Americas is nearly complete, Can't wait to see the jaguars finally having a lot more room to stretch out - and the sightlines for photographers look pretty decent as well. Only thing missing now is more cover, for patrons as well as the jaguars. It gets pretty toasty over on this side of the zoo!
Dean, it looks like there were two families who donated most of the funds to get the jaguar enclosure finished — I was a bit surprised to see them so front and center. I share your concern with the plants that are placed between the path and the rail for the viewing area. There are a lot of these over on the tapir/tamarin area as well and it's a really odd choice I think.

The verdict is out until everything fills in and grows up, but it just seems strange.

As far as I could tell, the enclosure hadn't been planted yet, but I hope for the sake of the jaguars (and the patrons!) they will be. It can get pretty brutal around noon out in that area of the zoo. There isn't a lot of cover anywhere.
